What a great couple of months we have had with Christmas markets. It was lovely to meet so many new and existing customers and its always very humbling to think people will be opening our products on Christmas Day, something we never take for granted.
The volunteers and organisers of these events deserve a special thanks. The markets take lots of organising and these wonderful community Christmas events wouldn’t happen without people giving up their time for free so a big thankyou from us.
We continue to care for our bees over the winter months, even though the weekly checks have finished we still need to check on any storm damage or flooding issues and boy we’ve had lots of storms. So far just the odd roof blown off so lets hope that’s the worst of it. The wet weather means its not possible to drive close to the hives at some apiaries so there is always a lot of walking and carrying bits this time of year. We are also checking the colonies to see they have enough food to keep them going until spring and top up where required. The other issues we can get this time of year as the hive’s are not as active is woodpecker damage, where the bird drills into the side of the hive to get at the bees and honey so a careful look over the hives to see if this is starting to happen. Mice also like to get inside the hive as its a warm environment to spend winter with the added bonus of a sweet treat if they want it!
We would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and thank you again for supporting us.
We will write more about what we are up to in the new year
Best wishes from all at Merry May!
